Blue Hill restaurant is behind the fresh take on yogurt and has apparently been making vegetable-based yogurts in its kitchen for years. But now carrot, tomato, beet, and squash flavors are ready to hit the market (the featured veggies will change with the seasons), and they are currently being sold at Whole Foods locations in New York, USA.
They recommend the creamy snack on its own, with toppings, or as an ingredient to be used in sweet and savory preparations alike. The Delish team had a chance to try all four yogurt varieties and we were pleasantly surprised by the not too overpowering, but still evident and unmistakable vegetable flavor. Those who like to keep their yogurt consumption on the sweeter end are advised to try the new products in smoothies, baked goods, or as a cooking alternative to other dairy staples like sour cream. While the yogurts have been launched on a fairly limited scale, if the trend takes, popular brands might be quick to pick up the veggie-centric idea.
